JoyBop is a joyful movement collective rooted in dance, music and human connection.

Founded by Tessa Wilson, JoyBop grew out of MumBop – a much-loved dance space for parents – and has since expanded into a wider offering for anyone seeking more joy, freedom and connection through movement.

what’S IT ALL ABOUT?

JoyBop exists to make dance accessible, playful and inclusive, especially for people who’ve felt excluded or put off by traditional fitness culture.

It shows up in many forms: structured classes, free dance, outdoor and woodland sessions, big ravey barn dance -style events, flashmobs, festivals and community gatherings where real bodies are welcomed and joy is taken seriously.

At its heart, JoyBop is about remembering that movement can be fun, healing and deeply human.

That you don’t need to earn your joy.

And that dancing together can be a powerful act of connection and care.

Who JoyBop is for

JoyBop is for anyone who wants to move in a way that feels good.

It’s especially loved by people who:

· Have felt excluded, intimidated or bored by traditional fitness spaces

· Want joyful movement without pressure, shame or diet culture

· Love music and dancing (or want to again)

· Want connection as much as exercise

You don’t need rhythm, coordination or confidence to start.

You just need a body and a willingness to give it a go.

What JoyBop is not

JoyBop is not about weight loss, calories or changing how you look.

There are no before-and-afters, no shouting, and no pressure to keep up.

Movement here isn’t something you earn or force.

It’s something you’re invited into.

MUMRAVE

MumRave is a rave-inspired dance session with proper night-out energy, created to help you let loose in a way that feels safe, friendly and unpretentious.

Expect dark, clubby lighting, big tunes and easy lead-and-follow routines you can jump straight into. Music spans DnB, house, rave classics, RnB, dancehall, with the odd pop delight thrown in.

It’s called MumRave so mums know this isn’t another scary exercise class – but it’s not just for mums. It’s for anyone who wants joyful movement, a big mood lift and that delicious “I forgot I could feel like this” feeling.

JoyBop Classes –
In Person

JoyBop Fridays (Hove)

JoyBop’s official in-person class takes place Friday mornings in Hove, and it’s an absolute joy (funnily enough).

Expect friendly, lively people, brilliant music and movement that feels fun, freeing and welcoming. The vibe is warm and inclusive – no dance experience needed, just a willingness to move and enjoy yourself.

Little ones are welcome too. We offer a limited number of spaces (5 per class) for people bringing a child, so please book a ticket that includes a little one. There’s a small area set up for them so you can stay close while still getting to dance.

This is feel-good movement to start your day smiling.
